Four simple ways you can help your child
get an A*

1. Take an interest in their class notes

Try and help them to stay on top of them throughout the year as they will be vital at Easter. This is where their revision notes will come from. If they have ‘lost’ them it will be very difficult for them to revise.

2. ‘Facebook Holidays’

Ask them to consider taking a holiday from facebook, twitter and other social media sites during crucial revision periods. Encourage them to call their friends instead, but keep an eye on the phone bill!

3. Realistic Revision Plans

The majority of revision plans fail through over ambition. Work with them to see if it is a realistic plan. If it unrealistic, they will be more susceptible to procrastination and will struggle to build the confidence they will need for the exam. Our website contains free revision planner templates with further advice.

4. Knowledge before practice

Students often focus on past paper practice before they know the core course material. This wastes precious revision time. They cannot get an A* without first knowing the course material.  Help them develop a solid set of revision notes first. Then they can begin the difficult task of answering the question in the way required by the examiner.
